GRA 2014: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
We started our Global Read Aloud today! We looked at the cover of Kate DiCamillo's book, "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" and made predictions about the story. When we were finished sharing our ideas (and we had LOTS), Mrs. King read Chapter 1. It was fantastic and filled with a few words we weren't familiar with. We are looking forward to reading more!
Here are a few of our predictions:
-"Peter Cottontail?"
ReplyDelete-"A mystery!"
-"A bunny wants to find out something."
-"A bunny that's going a journey - what I thought from the title."
-"Maybe the bunny is mysterious, wanting to know stuff - curious!"
-"He got lost from his home and now he's wandering around the city."
-"Like the movie, Hop, where the bunny rabbit goes up to the door and comes out with jelly beans."
(Those were some of our predictions while looking at the cover of the book.)
DeletePredictions about story, after reading chapters 1 & 2:
ReplyDelete"Maybe the family is going on a cruise and has to leave the bunny."
"They might "ship" the bunny away - sell him or give him away."
"Maybe she brings him on the ship and he falls out and shrinks."
"The bunny might run and try to find the ship."
"I think he might fall out of the boat, float back to shore, and try to find the house."
"The family is going to keep being mean."
"I think the whole family will go on a cruise, and he stays home and gets stolen, tries to escape and find the house."
"I think the whole family might go on a cruise and leave him on the ship."
"Maybe on the ship he falls off, goes past the shore, and gets lost trying to find their house."
